Marian (pronounced ‘mir-ee-in’) fell in love with yoga when she first tried it upon moving to Singapore from Scotland and has never looked back!
Marian has a deep and abiding love for Vinyasa flow: intermediate and advanced students come along to Mairian’s class for a power flow, beginners: allow Marian to gently introduce you to the beauty of flow yoga. However – don’t take our word for it – join Marian’s classes this month and find out for yourself.
The Chai Wallah’s Interview:
What is your favourite type of class to teach? Flow with balancing poses.
What is your favourite pose? Arm balances excite me – even those which I find challenging just inspire me to keep trying!
What is your least favourite pose and why? I would love to have a more flexible spine – so possibly backbends are not my forte!!
What keeps bringing you back to your yoga mat? I always come out of a yoga class feeling exhilarated and full of energy. It hits the right spot every time.
What is the strangest place you have done a yoga practice/pose? Up to now I have been very conservative – or very boring!!
What always makes you laugh? Laugh and the world laughs with you – cry and you cry alone! A good reason to see the funny side of life. Being Scottish we are meant to be dour but thankfully I must take after the Irish part of the family and as everyone knows, the Irish like a good time.
What is one of your personal quirks/habits/idiosyncrasies? Not sure if this should be censored! Like my underwear to be colour co-ordinated with what I’m wearing.
What is one thing about you that most people don’t know (until now)? Well…as long as you promise not to tell anyone…in my previous life I think I was a princess as even today I like to be waited on!
Marian completed a 500-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training with Don Peers at Yoga Space in Singapore. She has attended numerous workshops and training days with a wide range of yoga teachers.
