The Chai Wallah’s Interview:
What is your favourite type of class to teach? Yin and meditation generally but it does vary. What I teach is often a manifestation of my mood, I find that different practices suit to a greater or lesser degree during one’s life defending on what you are going through at the time.
What is your favourite pose? Trikonasana (Triangle), I love the heart-opening it gives, that feeling of radiating out from the center.
What is your least favourite pose and why? I have no strong dislike for any particular pose although I do find Hanumanasana (splits) difficult. I have learnt to accept my body as it is and am at peace with it.
What keeps bringing you back to your yoga mat? Yoga has changed my life – it teaches what is important in life and helps me to prioritize. It centers me and that is the best feeling in the world!
What is the strangest place you have done a yoga practice/pose? At the top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps…whilst on a bench! What a stunning view…
What always makes you laugh? Many things make me laugh, especially when I fall over – it is so important to be able to laugh at oneself.
What is one of your personal quirks/habits/idiosyncrasies? I have to have my yoga mat totally straight otherwise I can’t practice. It can’t even be slightly at an angle. I haven’t measured it…yet!…..Yikes!
What is one thing about you that most people don’t know (until now)? I can touch my third eye with my tongue….ha ha, no not really but I can touch my nose!
