Angela has been practicing yoga for 10 years and in that time has been actively studying yoga history, philosophy and the therapeutic effects of yoga.  In 2007 Angela discovered a passion for Pilates and undertook a number of Pilates trainings including mat and reformer Pilates.

Through her own practice, extensive study, years of teaching as well as overcoming her own injuries, Angela has a remarkable depth of understanding of movement, corrective movement and the body.

Over the years Angela has taught Bikram, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Yin yoga, she also teaches Stott Pilates Reformer Pilates and, at KPY, Mat Pilates.  She has studied under amazing teachers such as Bikram Choudhury, David Swenson, Sharon Gannon, David Life and Shiva Rea.

Amongst other training Angela completed a 500 hour Bikram teacher training in Los Angeles (Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury Yoga College of India, 2004), 200 hour teacher training with Louisa Sear in Australia (Yoga Arts, 2006), a 30 hour Yin Yoga teacher training with Viktor Chang in Thailand (Yoga Elements, 2007), Pilates Mat Work Training with Or-yah Avni Physical Mind Institute in Thailand (2008) and Stott Pilates Reformer Training with Ole Eugenio in Singapore (Options Studio, 2010).

The Chai Wallah’s Interview:

What is your favourite type of class to teach? I can’t even say, its the energy in a room with makes a class so enjoyable, every class/style is so different and in its own, so beautiful. Every style approaches the same goal on different levels, but in the end it all has the same.

What is your favourite pose? Any hip openers and quiet seated posture at the moment, my favourite poses change constantly…

What is your least favourite pose and why? Same here, it changes…I struggle with backbends at the moment.

What keeps bringing you back to your yoga mat? It teaches me how to become a better person.

What is the strangest place you have done a yoga practice/pose? Probably the bathroom of my parents house, it was so cold in the middle of January, so I heated up their bathroom and practice there…

What always makes you laugh? My own clumsiness!

What is one of your personal quirks/habits/idiosyncrasies? II am very organized, I love order…to the point that it can t be only my “Germaness”.

What is one thing about you that most people don’t know (until now)? I lived on an island for almost a year which was so small that you walked around it in 13 mins…
